Great show this week gang! This is actually my favorite episode ever. I love discussions about the classics! A few notes....
1) Round-Up: I am not too "Bashful" to admit that if I were one of the Dwarfs that I would be Grumpy. If you've read any of my posts on the boards then you know what I'm talking about. (Like Jeff mentioned, we all have a little of each of the dwarfs in us. I have allergies so I'm occasionally Sneezy. But, sadly, more often than not, when it comes to things that don't involve my wife and kids...I get grumpy... I try not to be...I really do!
2) My girls are 8 and 5 years old and Snow White is off limits until they are older. It is indeed frightening even to a 37 year old nerd like me. But you left out the most terrifying part....The evil queen (who is the most evil of all Disney villains IMHO) makes her potion of the Sleeping Death which doesn't kill its victim. It merely puts them to sleep forever. When she learns that the antidote is love's first kiss the queen isn't worried....Why? When the Dwarfs think Snow White is dead they will BURY HER ALIVE!!! If that's not scary I don't know what is!! 3) The last time I was at Disneyland we saw "Snow White" walking through Fantasyland and my wife got a little jealous when I jokingly said, "Hubba hubba" or something like that. I said, "Honey, she's just a cartoon!"
4) Snow White wasn't scared of the trees. When the Huntsman tells her to run for her life her imagination gets the best of her and she only thinks the trees are grabbing for her. And I love how she apologizes to all her animal friends for being such a fool! 5) The Disney World version of the ride does have an extra scene where you see the Prince leaning over Snow White to kiss her and then as you exit there is a mural of the prince leading her away on his horse. But the Disney World version is actually quite a different ride altogether. I think the Disneyland version begins in the Dwarfs cottage, if I'm not mistaken, but the DW version begins with the Magic Mirror saying Snow White is the fairest, and there is a scene of the Huntsman telling Snow White to run away which is followed by her flight through the woods before you get to the Dwarfs cottage. There are a few more things that I think are different between the two. (Doesn't the DL version have a scene of the wicked queen looking into the Dwarfs cottage before she becomes the peddlar woman? Orlando doesn't have that one either. 6) I've already got the Platinum edition and I don't think I'll add another copy just yet... I think I'll wait five years for the Super Blu-Ray format to come out and get that version!

If I was a dwarf, I think I might be Humble? Or Meek. I tend to apologize a lot sometimes.
I rewatched Snow White for the first time in about 13 years? last spring (I was on a Disney Kick, rewatched everything) and definitely realized how scary it really is. I think I fast forwarded through the tree part when I watched it. I did however watch it as a young child, grew up with it and everything, so I don't know if it really scarred me for life or anything. I do think however that Snow White may become a movie that kids know, but haven't seen. Elliot in the Electrical Parade is an example of this Forgotten Disney trend I've noticed. Luckily there's Mousetalgites like us around to not forget it all. Case in point: Babes in Toyland and Return to Oz. :D ![]() |

I got the bluray version=dvd of Snow White and I love it. The special features are great, and the audio commentary has a lot of Walt, which is awesome but
really unexpected. Theres a mirror, mirror game that lets you find out which princess you are through a series of questions, and if you blu-eay player is
connected to a network, the princess you get will call you on a number you choose. It is really great!
On thing that really stood out to me in WDW's Snow White ride is how much larger the mine carts are that guests ride in. Seriously, they are giagantic compared to the Disneyland ones. |

When the topic of how popular Snow White is and the fact that you see almost every little girl dressed up as her, it brought back a memory. When I was 5 years
old, my mom dressed me up as Snow White. I already had very dark curly brown hair. So I looked like a mini-me of Snow White.
Thanks for the happy memory. - Chelsea

Nice episode! Snow White began my Disney obsession.
Here is a the differences between WDW and DL SWSA: WDW: You begin by turning a corner and seeing SW singing to the Birds in her slave clothes, the queen is watching her from the tower. You then enter the castle to see the MM (magic Mirror, not Mickey Mouse)say that SW is the fairest. The Wicked Queen then exclaims "Never!" and turns into the hag. You turn a corner into the dungeon and see (like Dl's) the hag dipping the apple into the caldron. Unlike DL, You then see the huntsman tell SW to "run far away and never come back". You travel through the Dark forest, only to come to the peaceful cottage, you enter and see the dwarves dancing and singing. When you turn the corner the hag is at the window offering SW the apple. You exit the cottage to end up in the mine where 3 of the 7 dwarves are telling you to hurry up and catch up to the hag. From there you see the boulder about to crush you (exactly like DLs). And then... Happily ever after... the prince kisses SW and they ride into the distant palace. Well thats about it. |

I'm listening to the episode now. My family went on Scary Adventures in WDW at the end of August. It was hard for me to focus on the ride past the scary
forest scene because, as we rounded one of the sharp turns, my mom's sunglasses flew off her head and clattered to the floor. Luckily we got them back a
few hours later.
