I honestly can't wait to see what Dumbo flying over the park is going to look like. Tinkerbell coming down from the castle on a wire is one thing (which is
my favorite part of the nighttime festivities at Disneyland, to answer this week's question), but Dumbo is going to have to be something else entirely.
Will he just replace Tink on the wire, or is there some new brand of technology awaiting us?

Ahh yet another amazing podcast!
So funny and covers a lot of stuff. Gotta say that Carnation Plaza does have swing dancing still on friday and saturday nights. Tomorrowland Terrace also has live bands playing on some nights will a few people working up the courage to go dance. As far as naps...okay so I'm not one to go and sleep in a public place but I have to admit I have totally curled up in Disneyland (like random small corners) and just had a little doze while waiting for parade or whatever. I'm young but hey Disneyland makes me feel so warm and safe so I don't feel weird about relaxing there. I'm most excited about the nighttime glowy food and drink! I cry almost everytime Kristen!

agh. I'm an awful person.....I never watch the fireworks. We like to take advantage of the reduced lines, and maybe jump on Big Thunder. On another note,
we don't go to WDW during the summer.
Next trip booked, October 17th......6 days at the Old Key West resort! yay! |

I watched the fireworks once just because I struck up a conversation with a winsome female cast member who was guarding an "off limits" area that she had escorted me away from. This was before I was married, by the way.) I always use that time to hit some of the bigger rides. What better time to get right up fron at the Haunted Mansion or Splash Mountain? My favorite is to do a couple of nighttime spins on the Jungle Cruise. Sometimes the pilot will fool around a little bit more and take their time going through the river. The park can be quite a different experience when everyone leaves the rest of the park empty... |

Great podcast! I'm making a trip to Disneyland this summer and can't wait for all of the new nighttime fun!
I try to watch the fireworks once during each trip to Disneyland and I'm totally with Kristin on this one...they usually make me tear up. Don't be ashamed if Disneyland makes you cry! :) Faith, trust, and pixie dust! |

Fireworks is a mood thing for me. If I'm up for it, then I watch. If not, I hit all the rides that I want to go on one more time before the park closes.
It's a great time to swim upstream and go do everything that everyone else isn't. I once walked onto Indy twice in a row during the fireworks. Good
times.
Because it was mentioned in the podcast, I have to say that I am not a fan of DisneyQuest at WDW. It's expensive to get into if you're not a hotel guest ($40-$50, I think), it's crowded, dark, crammed with children (nothing against kids, of course, but you get my drift), and it just feels... creepy to me. Maybe it was the time of day I was there or something, but the last and only time I went in, the female friends I was with told me that they got leered at a lot by teenagers and a few creepy old guys. I haven't gone back since, and am much more a fan of the outdoor carnival games and attractions at Disneyland and WDW. A lot more fun at a fraction of the cost.

You guys were at you ultimate nerdiness in this episode; well done.....Some thoughts...
*I know it's early, but perhaps Dumbo's appearance is in anticipation of the 70th Anniversary of the film in 2011?? *Klymaxx's biggest hit was 1985's "I Miss You." *Your "West Coast Bias" was in full form this week as you dogged out NYC's fireworks. I'm not a big fireworks guy, but come on guys, BE NICE! The fireworks there aren't *that* bad. Plus, NYC only does fireworks
once a year and they don't really have the technical control over them the way Disney does.
*Can't say I've ever cried at Disneyland/World. I've felt like crying each time I leave, but never while I'm there. |

Another Great episode Mousetalgia crew! The firework show is truly the pride and glory of the Disney Parks. It is the perfect ending to a magical day. I
can't say I've ever cried at one of the shows, but it is truly an emotional experience. I have to say, my favorite fireworks show is during the 4th of
July at WDW (sorry no DL input). It is the perfect timing to the music and the transition of each song that really makes it special.

So I've been seen commercials for the new Nightastic and the 3 days ticket special their having to go with it, and there are some AMAZING shots of the
fireworks, I'm really excited.
Also I think TinkerBell will be flying as well as Dumbo (during different sections of the show) I thought I heard something to that effect...or perhaps now that Tink's Fairy area will be open at night she'll be staying on the ground. |

Another episode very well done! I loooved all the little Mousetalgic moments with the audio clips. The clip of the Believe... fireworks show made me all
goosebumpy (it's the show that was going on when I was working there and it holds great memories!). But I'm with others above me, I don't usually
stop and watch the fireworks if I'm visiting the park to take advantage of the reduced crowds/lines. A couple years ago, though, we finally sat in front of
the castle and watched Remember Dreams Come True and I will be forever thankful! What a spectacular show...I'll be sorry to see it go but excited for all
the new changes!
I thought it was funny you all mentioned the reserved seating for the Electrical Parade. The everyday guest need not bother, just head towards the end of the route which is usually pretty empty. I think the only people that really get the reserved seats are celebs and I don't remember many of them ever really showing up (both Johnny Depp and John Ritter were no-shows :( :( :( Sad days for me!) This will probably be the first year in as long as I can remember that I won't be making it to the park, so I'm looking forward to updates as these changes come rolling out!! <3 |

Michigan Greg wrote:This comment made me laugh. I never really thought of myself as having a "West Coast Bias". I will say doing the NYC fireworks on the 4th of July was a pretty cool experience. It felt like the entire city was down on the waterfront. Granted, we didn't make it to the section where they played the music to correspond with the fireworks Disney style. Regardless of if I sit down and watch the fireworks at Disneyland, I love that the music is pumped through the whole park. I think it just adds a lot of atmosphere. I love atmosphere --- something Disney is amazing at doing. |

Once I experienced a Disney fireworks show, I found most others pale in comparison. In fact I usually don't go to local 4th
of July displays, because I know I'll be disappointed. Disney's stylized choreography to music can't be beat, of course having a castle in the
foreground doesn't hurt either.

Actually there is a fireworks show in San Jose at Discovery Meadows Park that I like. They attempt to sink up to a local radio station so you can listen to the
music from where ever you are...that part doesn't really wow me. But they throw a TON of fireworks in the sky. It's like the Death Star destroyed
Alderaan above Silicon Valley.
Also, regarding crying at Disneyland. I don't cry at the fireworks really...but I remember getting very teary eyed at the 50th dedication where they re-played Walt's opening day speech and did a video montage to that LeAnn Rhymes song. Also, if I'm tired, I will get teary eyed during the Kodak commercial in the waiting area for Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Don't judge me! It's very sad when that kid loses his dog! Also, again when I was tired, would get teary eyed at the World War II section of Golden Dreams in DCA. Sadly I can't do that anymore because they ripped it out to make way for the Little Mermaid...who has nothing to do with California. Hey...where's my soap box? Oh...silly me I'm standing on it.

And please post pictures! Question. Are they going to keep this dragon for the fall too? Or is it just for the summer?
