I haven't joined yet, but plan on it. I was on the fence, but read the first magazine and loved it. First class, as expected. :0)
Would love to hear what Jeff or others have to say about membership! JOHN :0) |

I'l check out the Mousetalgia archives once I'm settled into my new place, to see what you thought. I'm betting that D23 will be a class act, and
am anxious to join.
Thanks for the welcome! JOHN :0) |

D23: Still an "No" for me | #4 | ||
|
I'm still a no go on D23.
If I lived in Southern California I'd be more willing to join since it seems all the real benefits to being a member (so far) appear to be cashed in around there. Here in economically depressed Michigan, far away from the Disney Archives and backstage Disneyland events, it's still not worth the the money.....

Right now I am seriously considering joining D23, but is it worth it if I cannot go to many of the events (especially those in DL and during the school year)?

Not only is there distance, but these events are limited to how many can come, and are on a first come basis, correct?
I don't live in California, either, so planing for any event can be difficult. And to see an event like the Haunted Mansion 40th anniversary sell out in 5 minutes was extremely disappointing. I understand they create excitement by making events and collectibles 'exclusive', but as a fan you get tired of losing out time after time. I did join D23 today, regardless, mostly because I enjoy the magazine, and hope to get something out of membership. I'll let you know. I know off-hand that I can't afford any of the exclusive merchandise. :0) Still, signing up this year makes you a 'charter member'. See? More of that exclusivity. :0) BTW, the Fall issue of D23 features The Haunted Mansion anniversary. Should be some great stuff! JOHN :0) PS Have the ads on this page messed up my post on anyone elses computer? It sure is playing havok on mine!

I was reading today at the D23 website about Club 33. Can you believe there are only 480 member slots!! Talk about exclusive...
With an 18 year waiting list, that's a bit ridiculous. I thought Walt believed in sharing, but at this rate, not many fans will get inside those doors. I didn't realise just how lucky you were, Jeff, to get in! At least with D23, we just have to part with a wee bit of hard earned cash, and we're in. :0) Now, is it worth it? I still haven't received anything yet, but looking forward to it. JOHN :0) |

I'm a 23-er and I would recommend it. However I'm also a huge mansion fan and the Fall 09 "magazine" edition speaks a bit to that.
And once the fires ceased, a shadowy reflection remained, stronger than its original being...

Update: I am now a card carrying member of D23... which means I got my card, and I'm now carrying it. :0)
I also got all my welcome gifts, which was a pleasant surprise, and much like Christmas morning! I loved the lithograph I received as a welcome gift, and the new magazine is great, and comes with a free patch for D23 members! So far, so good... although I'm still not sure about the benefits of living out of California, where all the good stuff seems to be happening. Then again, any Disneyland fan feels left out if they don't live in California. Cheers, JOHN :0) |

Changing my "Not for that kind of cash" vote for, "Sounded fun, so yes, I joined." Haha! I changed over to the D23 way. I was convinced by
the Mousetalgia gang. I hope I can take advantage of the perks.

well, i would LOVE to get the D23 magazine monthly but sadly I'm too poor to hahaha!:D anyway Personally i think is kind of pointless to me to get the
magazine because I live all the way in Virginia so that's means that i could never go to any special events/meetings. BUT! i got the Haunted Mansion
Edition of D23 for the Haunted Mansion Anniversary
