I haven't gotten to see this yet, but I've heard it is awesome. I just got the Nightmare Before Christmas DVD set, and it has a section dedicated to
HMH It has a full ride through, ride through with trivia (most of which I already knew
), and a documentary with the Imagineers who worked on it. I think the dvd set is
worth it just for the stuff on HMH!

This is a major wedge issue over on the Doombuggies forum. So much so that we've all pretty much stopped talking about it because of how heated things had
gotten. I visited the Holiday overlay last year around Christmas, and liked it, as I am a fan of the NBC movie. However, I am adamantly opposed to the overlay
occurring before Halloween! The Mansion is the crown jewel of Haunted Houses, in my opinion, and to dismantle it (and christmasify it, as that is the holiday
most of the overlay is of) before Halloween, is comparable to building a Grand Hall of American Presidents but giving it a Forrest Gump overlay right before
the 4th of July. If they would leave the Mansion in it's beautiful, normal state during the Halloween season, then transform it into HMH (Haunted Mansion
Holiday) when they put up the rest of the Christmas decorations, then I would totally dig it.

Yes, it's been a trend to start the HMH early. I think the first one was opened on 3 October. I've never been as early as that but I guess they are
allowing a month of preparation for Halloween too. I love it though. It has been the best makeover ever. I was very annoyed when I heard they had done it
the first time but once I had gone through I instantly forgave. It is brilliant.
Incidentally, the music they had for the very first year for the section where you come out of the stretching room until you enter Leota's room was superior to what is used today - very magical. I have a recording of the original music soundtrack from the 2001 ride-through. However, having said that, the music for the attic is vastly superior now. |

Yeah I agree, I don't think it's cool at all that they switch it over to the NBC theme before Halloween. I think it'd be best to switch it over in
November. When do they usually switch it over? What month is it normally closed for the switch over? Thanks ahead of time for the info to anyone who can let me
know :) I'm going the first week of August 09 and want to make sure it's not closed.

ok. I've just learned a whole lot from the Doombuggies site on the soundtrack for HMH. I prefer most of the original Gordon Goodwin soundtrack and it's
a shame to lose it from the ride. The current attic music is vastly superior however. At least I have my "unofficial" recording of Gordon's music
as a keepsake.

I have to agree that switching it over before Halloween is ridiculous. It's like stores decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving - there just has to be
some boundaries when it comes to these things! I understand that with all the work that goes into the overlay, they want to make it worth their while, but
starting the overlay so early proves in my book that you can have too much of a good thing.
Also, I've never heard the original music. Can anyone tell me where to take a listen? I personally miss the alternate lyrics to Christmas carols that used to be displayed in the cue. Anyone else miss those? |

yeah.. i do you the scarols that they used to play outside.isn't it just the music box from phantom manor they play outside. i personally think they should
of mixed in one or two scarols every hour or so. Plus, yeah it's a little early when they officially open HMH for the season but you have to understand
Disney is a company that needs to earn profit and if they have to open seasonal ride and sell seasonal merchandise earlier they will. Also i do think that the
holiday overlay is very fitting with both halloween and christmas (my personal opinion) yet i do think that they could change some minor cosmetic things to
theme they closest holiday like place more halloweenish themed decoration during the month(s) of late September and into October then change some of the more
Halloween themed decor to more Christmas themed decor during mid November into December. Overall i think they did a fantastic job on the overlay and i have
been so inspired by the overlay i even themed my halloween decor to HMH. check it out http://flickr.com/photos/htdesignslimited/
