I remember when the Nemo subs first opened...I stood in line with my friends and my portable DVD player and we watched the entire Finding Nemo movie while in line for the ride. Yeah, those lines were insane... if there was ever any doubt as to whether the refurb was worth it, I am sure those people were vindicated pretty quickly.

Speaking of Small World, my friend and I went on our once-every-10-years riding of it, and the refurbs are adorable. We both loved the new additions. My 10 year old cousin wasn't so happy though. About a minute in he asked if there were any drops (like on Pirates) and proceeded to bang his head on the handle bar in front of him.

Posts: 50 06/23/09 02:27:17	The new "Nemo" version of Submarine Voyage is fine...if you enjoy watching a PIXAR movie through a fish tank. It's sort of a let down after all those years of the ride being shut down to have it come back as nothing more than a computer animated movie with a really cool submarine as the seating area. And why is there almost nothing going on in the lagoon? Where are the rubber fish fastened to the bottom by the visible strings? Forget fancy special effects and CGI; give me kitsch!

But from what i've seen I agree fully with MichiganGreg. It's like watching a movie. I also like the story line of the original one better. I am disappointed that they got rid of The 20,000 Leagues under the sea voyage at WDW. And if they HAD to remove it, why not replace it with a new attraction? Now, I would be ok if they moved the Pooh ride INTO the playful spot, and brought back Mr. Toad.

WDW has been a catastrophe of bad decisions in the last ten years. EPCOT has fallen to pieces, Mr. Toad (a better version than the one in DL in my opinion) taken out, and 20,000 Leagues bulldozed and replaced with a tree house. (Not to mention the Tiki Room disaster.) The WDW submarines were a dream come true. It would be like a Star Wars fan getting to ride in the Mellenium Falcon. Being a huge fan of the 20K movie it was wonderful to see a replica Nautilus and get to ride in it!

Posts: 25 06/23/09 19:27:48	I remember 20K as being one of the original six "E" attractions at WDW. The attraction had a fanatasic look, with the Nautilus sailing the lagoon. From the description given in episode 33, the storyline between 20K and the Submarine Voyage sounded very similiar, with the exceptions of Nemo as the narrator and divers dressed in 20K garb. Sure you could see the water surface without much difficulty and sure you could see strings on the underwater figures, but that was probably part of the appeal. I always felt it was removed for several reasons: 1. It was very high maintenance 2. It was a very slow loading attraction, not to mention you baked in the sun while waiting. 3. It wasn't handicap accessible. But I miss it just the same. One side note, look for a craving of the Nautilus in one of the trees in Pooh's playground.

Unfortunately, I have not been to WDW recently and don't feel I can necessarily speak intelligently about it. Disneyland is our "home base" for Disney, so we of course have more passionate opinions regarding it. Hopefully others don't feel as if WDW is being disrepected around here. I know it hasn't been my intention!

They have made some bad decisions in the past though, the subs being one of the biggest. But balance the good with the bad, the new HM updates, POTC revamp, Stitch's super sonic Celebra... oh wait, that one was a miserable failure. Anyway.... lets get back to talking about Disneyland.

But if you are going to make changes don't be so lazy. I agree with your thoughts on the songs. They didn't even bother to write new songs. They just changed the lyrics to a bunch of bland latin themed pop songs. They didn't even try to be original or creative. I used to love to put my face in the window and feel the air from the little air conditioner vent. When I went in the service I almost went into the Sub service, because of my memories. But after reality set in, and I got to spend some time on a real sub, I kinda changed my mind. I know a few of you played VMK, Virtual Magic Kingdom, the online game. I created a room to honor one of my favorite rides. Here it is. (the rocket couches were included to represent torpedoes. They are not out of place using this logic lol!) Man I miss VMK!!!
