I'm sure that Jeff can give a more elegant answer than I will be able to do, but he may not see this post right away. Basically we like to think of ourselves as geeks, instead of nerds. I think we try to define it in that... Nerd = Very knowledgeable and focused on a certain topic(s), but doesn't necessarily have the ability to look at it from an objective outside point of view. Generally are exclusionary and not very social. Geek = Still very knowledgeable, but realizes there are multiple ways to look at the topic and respects those opinions. Generally curious people that enjoy to learn about things, but not necessarily become a master of the subject. Another generality would be that Geeks are better at socializing and their skin doesn't always burn when it sees sunlight. To that end, they have "Geek Monthly", but they don't have "Nerd Monthly." It is "OK" to be a geek, but generally not culturally "cool" to be a "nerd." Really people shouldn't panic if they use the terms interchangeably... A lot of this probably stems from Jeff and I being long-time computer geeks, and having us be labeled by others. It just makes us feel better about being a geek/nerd. I hope it came out in the cast, that I certainly miss that. Some of the newer ones seem too soft and fluffy. They are more appropriate for a nursery wall, than my family room.

First time seeing the original. lol. And yes it's sad not going to the event, but I'm not going to die. Pun not intended. Amazing podcast. Greg Maletic, you are one amazing artist!!! Congrats!! As someone who gets to the parks less and less frequently as I get older the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay presents a major dilemma for me... 1) I'm likely to only visit the parks once a decade, but I feel cheated if I don't get to ride the original Haunted Mansion (as was the case in my last visit in 2000 when it was down for a refurbishment.. BOOOOOO!) 2) I want to see Disneyland/Disney World decked out for Christmas, but now if I go at Christmas I don't get the Haunted Mansion...I get NBC Haunted Mansion which I'm not really interested in despite my love for NBC the movie. Which means it could be upwards of 10 to 15 years before I see HM in it's original theme again. (I'm actually going on 18 years now since last riding HM...before 2000 was in 1992....) Decisions, decisions...

Yes, that's correct: the iPod Touch does not have GPS, so it doesn't work for Wishing Stars...at least, not as I've currently constructed it. But I recently thought of a way to do an interesting game without GPS, so keep an eye out for something along those lines... Posts: 210 06/17/09 18:21:31	Sorry I haven't posted a comment in so long, I have been immensely busy. Anyway.. Great episode! That iPhone app sounds great, too bad that It is for DL and not WDW. I heard some good reviews on the Kim Possible game in Epcot. I am excited to try it when I go to WDW in July. As for the HM overlay... Get rid of it. Thats all I have to say, they did a great job on making it, but it just isn't the Haunted Mansion.

Decisions, decisions... I feel your pain. I grew up just a few miles from Disneyland and practically lived there from 1974 (the year when I came into existence) until 1997 (the sad year I moved). Now I am in Tennessee for reasons I am still trying to figure out. I have only been back to the park once since I left (June 2005). I was either going to go in early summer or sometime between Halloween or Christmas. We almost came just after Halloween to beat the summertime crowds on top of the 50th celebration. But we decided to go in June because I absolutely did not want to miss The Haunted Mansion as I love and remember it. But it came with a trade off. Space Mountain was closed as they were redoing and upgrading the ride which really bummed me out. It was especially sad because the ride was scheduled to open 2 days after we left. I think I shed a tear or two over that. Anyways, I plan to come back in April of next year. We could have come at the end of this year but for the same reason as before, we are coming in April. Hopefully another one of my favorite rides won't be closed for whatever reason (Who am I kidding? Every ride is my favorite!).
