I don't mind having Lucasfilm attractions in the park. (At Disney World it's nice that they are relegated to the Hollywood Stuidos park so the Magic
Kingdom is exclusively Disney.)
The Indy ride at Disneyland is a perfect fit for Adventureland I understand Kristen's protests, but I'd rather have a great Lucasfilm ride in Disneyland than some of...well....I'll just stop there..... |

Another Great episode Mousetalgia crew! Right now I cant think of anything else to comment on but Kristen's Tiki Room experience. I know how it feels
Kristen, I have been through many experiences like that one. I say it's the cast-member's fault, not yours.

Becky you and me are so together on Last Crusade...for me it is HANDS DOWN the best! It has all the action and intensity of Raiders but with a whole buddy
comedy element that adds so much to it. A fantastic movie...it's a shame they had to go and spoil it.
And I can beat Dave's mom...I had a BILLBOARD sized poster of Harrison Ford that took up two walls of my bedroom in college. I may have a man crush on Harrison ....don't judge me! ;) It's funny that I agree with Kristen so often...except on this issue. Not only do I love Lucas in the parks (RIP Captain EO) I'd love to see MORE non-Disney franchises in the parks *cough *Star Trek* *cough* Indy is my favorite ride...I remember being fortunate enough to be there at the opening (March 3rd) through a twist of fate. It was an awesome experience. Star Tours really rekindled my love of Star Wars. (Then the prequels killed that love, but what can you do?) I think if those movies had been made rides in other parks like Paramount or Universal...they wouldn't have been nearly as good. Disney is the best, so they should get to pick from the best of movies and bring them to us in a magical way. Disney does rides better than anyone else, so it stands to reason that when a movie has transcended to the point where it's move than a film but a cultural phenomenal (which I would say applies to Star Wars, Indy as well as the Twilight Zone)...you take it to Disney to experience it the best way imaginable. (Wow...sorry. Long post.)

The queue is as good as the ride if you appreciate it. I too went to the cast member preview of the ride back before it opened, 2 hr. line at least. Remember
the line on this ride when it opened to the public? The queue wound all the way down Main Street.
Epic. There are several special hidden easter eggs all over the queue, it's rad. The jeep in the queue: the jeep is in the chase scene of Raiders, Indy breaks the emblem off the front of it in the movie. To the left of the jeep there is a dock, there is a life-ring from the boat in "Last Crusade" (says Coronado on it). The spike room is triggered on a hourly interval when the pole on the left is triggered. Sometimes this effect is turned off entirely. The same goes with the stepping stones and the archaeologist in the well. There are two parallel lines in the shape of railroad tracks on the roof in the queue right past the spike room, this is where the Disneyland RR passes over the ride queue (so I was told). The queue also features a hidden parking sign from the Eeyore parking lot that this attraction was built over. Further into the queue: the "Excavation Office" there are several props that were either in the movies such as the wrench, a bullwhip and various old stuff. There used to be a "Life" Magazine on the desk that featured Mickey Mouse on the cover, it was removed in the early 2000's. There are several boxes near the ride control room, one that features a nod to a character in the movie, there is a box that says "Deliver to M. Brody" Still halfway through listening this.. great topic :) |

I have a fond enjoyment of the thrid film.
1) Christian/ Arthurian Artifact involved. 2) A high ammount of James Bond Actors. 3) Was the inspriation for a gag in Toy Story 2. Mickey Mania is awesome.

Kristen, I have a similar problem on Dinosaur......I know the t-rexesque dino is coming.....but i always flinch/scream. The key here is to make a funny face, because the camera is taking your picture. |

Yeah, Indiana Jones!!! Maybe the crowd didn't go wild, but I've been looking forward to this one!
I love the Indiana Jones movies! (Except number 4. There were some cool parts, but I was disappointed.) The Last Crusade is my favorite. James Bond IS Indiana Jones' dad! It's true, Harrison Ford was sick and thought it would be best just to shoot the swordsman. The talk about in on the special features. I'm the same way, I could cycle through the Indiana Jones movies and the Star Wars movies and be completely happy. The queue is probably my favorite queue of the whole park. The detail is amazing. I still look for the bats in the cave room. I love pulling the bamboo and watching everyone's reaction as the ceiling starts to fall. I also love to pull on the rope and listen to the poor excavator fall. If you are loaded on the vehicle to the right of the stairs, you have an opportunity to see the door wall move. If you look at the mirrors that are along the wall, (when the vehicle stops and Sallah's voice comes on saying to take it easy on the curves) you can see the reflection of the wall moving. There was one time where the vehicle I was in was stopped in front of the doors as the wall moved. That was sort of cool. There was also a time where the door didn't close after the car in front of us went through. Harrison Ford was going to do the voice work on the line but he told everyone that he didn't want to do the tv spots. The day before the recording, some newbie sent him the script for the ride and for the tv spots. He then called it off because of that. I was hoping that during filming of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Harrison Ford would have recorded some lines for the ride. Oh well. Maybe some day. I love the ride, I hope they do a refurb sometime soon, the ride could use a little bit of attention. Sorry, long post. I could have kept going too....... Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?

Hello all. First time listener to the podcast and I really enjoyed it and I will be a regular listener. I grew up near Disneyland and I have been away for a
few years (living in Tennessee now) but my heart is always there.
I really enjoy the Indiana Jones and Star Wars attractions. But the question is this: If Walt Disney were alive today (gosh I really wish he was) would he approve of allowing attractions to be placed in Disneyland that are based on movies that have nothing to do with Disney? I tend to think not. That being said, I do enjoy the attractions. But I hope that Disneyland never loses the spirit of Walt himself. And as of 2005 (last time I was there), I felt Walt's presence there and it was alive and strong. |

So kind of an interesting story...
When I was 16 my grandparents said 'We want to take you to Paris for Christmas' I suppose a normal 16 year old would have been jumping up and down and clinging to her grandma and grandpa in gratitude. Instead I said 'If we don't go to Disneyland Paris, then I don't want to go to Paris at all'. After shocking everyone with that little statement they agreed that we could spend a few days at DLRP, at which point I screamed and ran around in happy cirlces hugging them. Anyway we're at Paris and I think 'Lets go on Indiana Jones!' Heck yeah! My grandparents are old and suffer from heart conditions but they've been on the Disneyland Indy lots of times and been just fine. So I prance along the line with them following me...and the next I think I know we're being strapped in...and I'm thinking "wait a minute, why are we being strapped in?" Well...I figured that one out too late... Apparently the Indiana Jones in Paris is a high speed backwards roller coaster that also does loops! My guilt and concern over my grandparents after that was immense and then I started to pay more attention and actually read the signs and such. They were okay, but lets just say they don't follow me onto rides anymore. The ride was amazingly fun though, based on the mine cart scene in Temple of Doom. |

I am disgusted at The Disney Channel (where's the Disney??) and Disney XD (is Batman Disney?). They had a good opportunity when they had Toon Disney but they blew it. The state of the Disney company today is depressing actually. I wish they would put together a Vault Disney type of a channel that would run 24/7. They used to have something like that on The Disney Channel years ago that would run overnight. If it wasn't for Pixar, Disney would be on life support. They almost shut down their animation department!! I just hope that the Disny parks (I am partial to Disneyland) doesn't lose that classic feel that Walt brought and created. Like I said earlier, the last time I was at Disneyland was in June 2005 (I'm there everyday in spirit) and with the 50th celebration, it was wonderful. I nearly cried durning the fireworks show where they covered the history of the park. I think that if Walt was there (I think he was), he would have been proud. |
