Quick note - if anyone's having problems downloading the file, you can get it manually from our host: mousetalgia.libsyn.com
I think that libsyn sent out a bad ping to itunes this morning, so some people are getting error messages from itunes when trying to automatically download the file. The file is loaded now, and hopefully I'll be able to properly ping itunes with the updated info, but if you get an error message, now you know why. |

There's a theme song for the Cupcake Cones, I wish I could sing XD But I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's ears lol
The dole pineapple whip needs a theme song now or it might feel neglected! One of my favorite parts of walking into Frontierland is looking down and seeing all the old fashioned shoe prints and horse shoes and such, just the great texture of the ground (and the ground changes land to land which is nice to see/feel) XD We've been trying to snap good pictures of the skunks, possums, and coyote's while on the Big Thunder Ride for a while, but so far just blur shots XD The cabin is now just decorated all nice, like a settler is there, no guns, no fire, no man laying dead with an arrow in his back...no fun XD On another note - they took down the 'settlers laundry' that was hanging in the Big Thunder Mountain area and it looks like it's hanging near the cabin now... A Pirate comes and takes over the Columbia sometimes to tell you a story about Pirate Island (he's a smart ass pirate too XD Our verbal battles occur often throughout Frontierland and new orleans) Festival of Fools! I miss it T.T (you can still see a little of the decor while riding the train behind that area) Fun Fact: To keep the flies away that might bother guests (near petting zoo, due to the horses, etc) they released a smaller fly eating species of gnats I believe...I have to double check XD But yeah so thats what keeps all the bugs that would be attracted to those types of scents etc away. Also on main street we used to time how long it took them to clean up horse uhh accidents, never used to take more then two minutes top to get someone to block the area and start cleaning. It seems that Disney is a bit short staffed through, because we timed it at a whole 11minutes this last weekend! Beware of horse accidents on the streets! (worse the poor guy tried to clean it up with an ordinary sweep broom) |

Frontierland was never my favorite. I don't dislike it, I'm just indifferent I think. But I have to say, I'm going to miss the McDonald's
french fry wagon, best snack for Fantasmic ever.

Frontierland is one of my favourite places in the park for the same reason I like Critter Country. It's just a pleasant place to walk and relax. Plus you
can scratch itchy goats which is totally awesome.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is actually my favourite fast ride in the park. Maybe it's the feeling of imminent death, but I just finding it more thrilling than Space Mountain (and more comfortable than the Matterhorn Bobsleds). I also love riding the Mark Twain. I think it's kind of an afterthought for most people (I didn't ride it until I'd been coming for years) but it's an enjoyable trip. If you take it during the day you can even see some of the wildlife that has made homes along the shore. One time we saw a raccoon just chilling on the shore and it was cooler than any animatronic moose they could ever build. It just made it all seem more authentic. I'm sure Walt would have appreciated it. One of my least favourite things about Frontierland is the pin shop. I love to shop there but ever since they added the pin trading tables it is swarming with pin traders and (no offense to any pin traders on the forum) some of them aren't very considerate of others. They crowd inside, blocking the doors, and I've had several of them cut in front of me while I've been waiting to check out just so they can trade with the cast member. And it's always adults behaving this way. I'd be far more understanding if it were children, but no. But this is a minor concern. I've just learned to come back later if I see a swarm of them. |

I love Frontierland, it has such great atmosphere. I do think for some reason that it has a lack of attractions (at least at WDW). But for what it is, I love
it! I do, however, dislike the Mc Donald's French Fry wagon, but that is only because I am anti-Fast Food (all because I watched that "Super-size
me" movie.) ;)

You mentioned John Lasseter and that he got into the wine business in this episode. Well, I have had the opportunity to visit the Justi Creek Winery in Glen
Ellen to see his new house and swimming pool (if you could call it that). I had the opportunity to engineer the swimming pool and associated waterfeatures. The
pool is nothing short of amazing and is something that would definately come out of John Lasseter. Monster lighting and sound system, lazy river that goes
through a cave/ tunnel with fiber optic crystals and stalagtites with water drippping from them, a waterslide that looks like a wooden log flume that spits you
out into the pool through a hollowed out tree trunk, a warming pool that poses as a sulfurous pool, etc. It is truly amazing. I was last out there in December
to see the finished project.

MasterGracey13 wrote: Yeah.....I don't like any McDonalds in the park. Lucky for us, the french fry wagon closed, and WDW is slowly getting rid of the fries in other locations as well. I think the world's fries are just as good. How does everyone feel about sponsorship by companies you don't like? Up until this point I have avoided Finding Nemo the musical, at Animal Kingdom, because of the McDonalds sponsorship......but I don't think I can wait any longer. |

Actually I was reading somewhere about a contract between McDonald's and Disney. It said that if Disney would sell MD's French Fries in the park, MD
would promote Disney films, parks, etc at their restaurants.

Great cast! A little history, a little food, a look back and a look forward. All made for a great episode. The mental picture of Kristen chaining herself to the shooting range to prevent its demise was a bonus. I have to say I have always felt that Frontier land was "small". When you enter from the hub, once you pass the Golden horseshoe I feel like its
over. I wish the street could be longer, and lined on both sides with Western movie set type building. I would like to be immersed in the frontier experience
like you are immersed in the fantasy-land experience and the New Orleans experience. I think the 50 yards of store front on one side isn't enough.

That is awesome, and the Starcade was testing something like the virtual roller coaster, not sure if they still are. We tried it and it was interesting if not
a little disorienting.

Oh snap...I used to work at a Starcade in the Bay Area...the one I bet none of the Mousetalgia team went to (because no one in the Bay Area did) That mine guy
used to make us laugh...but the ride seemed more like Temple of Doom than Big THunder...to me.
Also I've always liked Frontierland for a fairly lame reason...I love the sound of walking on the wooden plank floors out in front of Golden Horseshoe and those shops on that side. No matter what shoes you're wearing...it sounds like you're tromping around in cowboy boots. Definitely sells the old west thing...in my head anyway.

I've been missing the Big Thunder Ranch for months now! Everytime we go to the park we say "let's take the back way to Fantasyland to see if the
goats are out!"...then no goats. Sad Lilac. But you have made my day, Mousetalgia podcast! This Friday I am ALL ABOUT the goats! (there better be
goats. I will cry if there is a lack of goats.) Plus I can't wait to git mah mitts on a cupcake cone!
I have to admit that I miss the smell of greasy fries outside Big Thunder Mountain, but mostly I miss the Westward Ho because of the name (I'm lowbrow).
