Here's one of my stories: One time Winnie-the-Pooh broke down just as we were passing the storm scene. We sat there for a while until they announced they would need to clear the ride to make repairs. Cast members made their way from honeypot to honeypot letting riders out. We were escorted back to the entrance and got a chance to walk past all of the displays with the lights on. I didn't have an actual camera so I took pictures with my camera phone. Unfortunately I lost those photos along with the phone they were in but I figure I'll get another chance.

Most anyone who has made repeated trips to Disneyland has had to deal with rides breaking down, even when you're on them. My favorite Disneyland euphemism
for a broken down ride comes from Winnie-the-Pooh where any technical issues are referred to as "honey spills." With that in mind, I'd love to
hear if any cool stories of "honey spills" or ride walk offs that you want to share.

Let me see...
Once, my best friend and I thought we could catch a quick ride through Pirates before our Blue Bayou reservation...bad idea. We were almost to the auction scene when all the boats stopped moving. We sat and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, they made an announcement to stay in the boat and that a cast member would be with us shortly. So we waited...eventually the soundtrack to the ride was turned off (but everything was still moving...it was pretty creepy, actually) and the lights came on. Finally, a CM appeared and got us off the boats and lets us weave our way through the backstage area, outside (backstage) and finally through some doors and back the crowds. It was pretty cool to see backstage of pirates and to just be able to sit in the boat and analyze everything around us. We were, though, late for our reservation and the host at the front of the restaurant hardly had pity for us and we were almost not seated. That was kind of frustrating because one would think, with the two things CONNECTED they would know there had been a problem and to be a little lenient. Oh well... (We heard later that apparently there had been a loss of water pressure and nothing was able to move...bummer!) The other one was my two bestestes and I went on Space Mountain and had been joking, in line, that it would be cool if the ride broke down and they had to turn on all the lights so we could see the track and the inner workings. Well, sure enough, as we neared the end of the ride, our car stopped and after a few minutes, all the lights came on. It was pretty awesome to see everything... Finally a cast member came over to our car and one of the guys in the back of the car jokingly asked "What are ya gonna do, push us?" (thinking he was so funny!) and really without a word, the CM did something to the car and sure enough, gave it a huge push and we were able to sail-with no power-back to the start of the ride! Fortunately, not long after that, everything started working again as normal and the CM told us we could just stay in our car and they'd run us though again (even with the huge lines)...which would have been nice if I didn't get really bad motion sickness, haha. I can do it once and just be a little nauseous, but needless to say, doing it twice in a row did not make for a good rest of the day! ;) Oh well. |

I used this one as my disney magical moment, and didn't have time to re-type it here, so I am just copying and pasting it:
Ok, mine is at WDW (Brace yourself it is long! But it is interesting) . I was about 5 years old and my mom said that it would be a good idea to go on POTC during the fireworks. I was a little hesitant (and I let her know so) but I agreed. There was no line, only two people in the boat in front of us, two people in our boat, and three people in the boat behind us. At about the middle of the ride I felt a "I told you so" moment coming. But suddenly the ride stopped. I wasn't worried, as this is usual for many rides. Ten minutes went by, then twenty minutes, then thirty, and no one came for us. We were in the area where the Pirates were burning down the city, so we weren't stuck in a part that it would be hard to get out of, like the Wicked wench scene. The people in the boat in back of us decided that it was enough, so they climbed out of the boat and onto the area where the pirates were. They found a set of stairs and climbed up them. We waited in the boat for 5 minutes before they finally came back and said that they found an exit. We all climbed out of our boats, climbed up the stairs, and were backstage. It was AMAZING to see what the backstage of a attraction looked like! Unfortunately I was too freaked out to take any pictures. We walked out the exit door into a HUGE parking lot backstage of the MK. Thankfully a security guard was standing right there so we walked up to him. We explained that we were stuck on the ride for 30+ minutes and he escorted us back into the park. And my favorite part of it all was telling my mom "I told you so"! Seecamerasmile, you were lucky they turned the soundtrack off, we were stuck listening to "You Ho Yo Ho" the whole time!

I got parked on Temple of the Forbidden Eye once directly under Indy, hanging from the rope. We were there for about 10 minutes before they turned off the
soundtrack and turned on the lights (and we found that the boulder scene is also a big black room that was also used to store junk in the corner.) They walked
us down around the fallen boulder and past standing Indy, and then we were out.

We stopped on Indy at the blow dart scene. They turned the lights on and such, but after 10 minutes or so it started up again.

I take pride in having been evac'ed from many of the rides at DL (all due to honey spills, and not any inappropriate behavior on my part), but here are my
two favorites:
Halfway down the Matterhorn, our car got sticky stuck. Along with everyone else's. After 20 minutes, they came to escort us off--we were on the left-hand track between the last yeti and the big drop. Like Big Thunder (walked off twice, thank you very much), the Matterhorn has steps built into its exterior that are meant to blend into the natural decor. No back room here--we walked down the side of the mountain! There were no handrails, and my friend was wearing big platform goth shoes, so I was watching her pretty intently to make sure she didn't topple off the mountain! My favorite honey spill evac was during Haunted Mansion Holiday. We were one of the last parties in at the end of the night. We were first delayed by prankish spirits in the conservatory area, with the ghost trying in vain to escape his coffin. 20 minutes. With those venus fly traps nyah nyahing "Kidnap the Sandy Claws." Unpleasant. Eventually, we started moving again, only to get stuck in the seance room. This time there was no going. After another 20 minutes, lights came up and we were released and led down the hallway to the exit right by the loading area. The best part, however, was that even though they had brought the lights up, they left the animatronics running! So as we walked down the hallway, the doors lunged and growled at us and candalabras danced down endless chambers! That exit comes out under the queue where the mausaleum markers are (you know, I.L. Be Back, etc.), the queue was empty, but the mansion was still bathed in ethereal candlelight while the music box version of Grim Grinning Ghosts played softly. It was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen! |

I have the WORST luck, see I LOVE getting stuck in a ride, having the lights come on, and getting to walk out through the ride. But it ALWAYS happens to me
when my camera is in the locker, out of batteries, at home, etc.
I got stuck right in the middle of Indy on my birthday, right after the giant snake. The car made like 'stallking revving' noises the entire time and kept bucking , which I thought was really neat. The lights came on these railings popped up out of the ground! It was sooo cool. The entire Indy ride seems to be somekind of awful storage dump that never gets cleaned XD The walls frightened me. Anyway we got to walk through the whole rest of the ride with the lights on, I almost cried for lack of my camera. But a great birthday treat (everyone looked at me so oddly when I was all happy about the breakdown). |

However, I have seen the original Space Mountain with the lights on (if you remember the portholes to view the ride they used to have in the queue), but I can't remember what it looked like. D;
Just leave this place
behind,
Ill grill your place, don't mind. And you're the only one, 'cos you're up on defense. This is a new way! |

I was in the middle of Snow White (the "scary" forest scene) when the cars stopped and the lights turned on. A guy came over the speaker telling
everyone in Peter Pan to remain seated. (I wounder if all of the dark rides are connected.) A couple of girls in the car in front of us turned around and asked
us what we did. A lady came and let us out and we followed her to the exit. I snapped some pics. It was cool.
I got stopped in Pirates of the Caribbean at the prison scene. It was cool, they have about 5 mins of dialog before it repeated. Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him? |

My family was in the PotC. The boats stopped for an unkown reason and we were in the jail scene for eight minutes. Minutes later we stopped going up the ramp
for only 2 minutes.
Mickey Mania is awesome.

Well it's an interesting night to be at Disneyland. We had an earthquake in SoCal about an hour ago or so, and according to all the tweets Overheard at
Disneyland is getting, all rides have shut down for safety tests. I kinda want to be there during and earthquake now :D

The quakes were pretty strong 5.0 & 3.0, good to hear their doing safety checks and no one is hurt or anything. Hopefully the rest of the night isn't
as eventful XD

Oh man... we got stuck on Mission: SPACE at Epcot in WDW. It was our first time on the ride, and in Epcot. It was about 10 AM, and it was my dad, my sister, a
stranger, and myself. Right as we were diving into Mars, a message popped up on the screen saying something like "We've encountered a problem. An ISTC
employee will arrive to assist you shortly." We waited something like 10 minutes. I remember my dad saying "If this is the kind of training
astronauts get, no wonder rockets explode!" Since it was our first time on the ride, we were all wondering if it was part of the experience. Finally, a
cast member let us out and gave us Fastpasses to return later.
That's a pretty boring walk-out. The door opens, you leave the little pod, and walk out normally. Disappointing. Though, I guess I've been condition to think of "honey spills" as bad, after sitting on a chairlift in biting winter wind for 20 minutes in Vermont. If I had to experience a honey spill, I'd love to see The Haunted Mansion, of course, Pirates, Space Mountain, or Peter Pan (walking over London?) |

Haha, I used the 'honey spill' all the time when I worked at Pooh...thats ride just has a tendancy to break down...a lot. However, on the extremely
rare occasion that the Haunted Mansion broke down, it was always fun creating numerous stories and tales concerning "what went wrong" inside. I used
everything from Constance finding a new husband and eloping to "some of the gifts Sandy Claws had for good boys and 'ghouls' escaped".
